Walking in Our Teacher Librarian Shoes

For all the MASL visitors finding my blog, welcome!  It is always enjoyable to present - though sometimes stressful - as I try to figure out what I want to say in my workshops.  How to find my "stuff" is simple.  If you look over in the right column, there is a link to Workshops & Presentations.  I'm still updating and changing the presentation you saw at conference but you are welcome to cruise through some of the other links.  Most of what I talked about at the Lake comes from earlier workshops.

I really believe that sharing with your peers - teachers, librarians, and students - makes for a richer experience in our school librarians.  Did you catch that your students can be your peers?  Yes, I'm always having students teach me new methods on how to make a online web 2.0 tool work.  The latest has been AP Psychology and Advanced Composition students working on presentations using Prezi.  I've played with Prezi but honestly it makes me "carsick".  However, I watched seniors put together wonderful poetry presentations using Prezi.  One student was teaching 3 others how to use it.  I wish that my camera had been handy - it was a perfect example of students teaching students.  What a great job we school librarians have that we can teach and learn with our kids!

Time to Walk & Twitter @ #maslsc11

I'm working on last minute details for my presentation "Walking in Our Teacher Librarian Shows" for the MASL Spring Conference.  My workshop time slots have been moved from the original workshop listing on  the handout page.  The Workshop Grid now has me presenting on Sunday @ 2:00 - 3:00 which is the first workshop time.  I blinked when I saw where my presentation is taking place - talk about needing your hiking boots - way over in "Building B" in the Drawing Room Terrace.  Positive side is that we'll have lots of room! Haven't had lunch driving down to the Lake? Then head out early for the Drawing Room and stop at the Food Court for a snack.

My 2nd presentation takes place on Tuesday, 11:30 - 12:30 - the last time slot.  Good news!  I'll be presenting in Room 62 right on the 6th floor across from the Grand Ballroom. Perfect to come over after listening to David Loertscher, the keynote speaker for the Tuesday Brunch.

Any Twitter people out there coming to MASL?  I had posted a question on the forum regarding a hashtag for MASL conference.  Had a couple of replies, thank you!  Tonight MASL sent out an email with our official hashtag.  Hurrah!

MASL Spring Conference 2011

Counting down the days until the Spring Conference at Tan-Tar-A.  Hope everyone is looking forward to networking and learning new things!  My presentation "Walking in Our Teacher Librarian Shoes" is on the workshop calendar twice - Monday morning and Tuesday morning. I'm polishing up the presentation so it will be posted under the link on my blog Workshops & Presentations.   Bring a small notebook or have your smartphone ready but I'll post all the tools and tutorials I'll mention on my Google sites.

Curious on how the intro video was made?  The MASL movie trailer was made at  VipID . Just awesome to play but there is a small cost to download your creations. Xtranormal  was used for the cute robot animation. You can find quick tutorials for several animation tools at The Daring Librarian's Steam Powered Wiki from the talented Gwyneth Jones, that daring librarian.
